Any recommendations on over the counter treatment for cold sores?
Preferably something natural, maybe something I can knock together myself?

Jay, put an ice cube on your sore and hold it there . do this off and on for a day or two and it will go away.
there is meds for this but I have found out that ice works best for me.
When you feel a cold sore coming on put a small piece of ice on it and keep it there and it will go away without it getting worse.
this is a remedy that helps without cost of buying stuff that might not work on you. Try it first.

I have already got rid of the cold sore or fever blister but it left a mark on my lip that is going away slowly and I wanted to know if anyone knew anything to use to make it go away faster?

ice cube on the sore…a few minutes, then a few minutes off. Usually helps me. You can also buy a lip ointment called Herpecin (sounds like a herpes product but don’t let that bother you). I had the flu years ago and ended up with very bad fever sores on my mouth and that was the only thing that helped. That stuff works like magic! Good luck.

OK so it’s my 18th birthday in 8 days and I’ve woken up with a cold-sore! But my cold-sores aren’t normal ones they are like big bulging blisters! I have relatively big lips and they often make my lip hang down. So please please please anyone have any good cold-sore remedies I’ll try ANYTHING!

cayenne pepper. Mix with just a small amount of water or olive oil. Enough to make a paste. It will likely sting, but it should speed up the healing process

A good cold sore cream such as Zviorax (sp). Put it on every hour until the coldsore goes (could take a day or two).
Next time you feel a cold sore tingling, put the cream on straight away!
Remember to wash hands before and after to stop the spread around your body.
-edit- also, don’t know if this really helps but I think it does- get plenty of fresh fruit and veg

Lavender oil, not shore how long it will take, but lavender oil helps all sorts of skin problems!

Ok well i get cold sores all the time, and i feel the tingling of a cold sore coming on. i can also feel and.. and i kind of see the blister.
what can i use to make it go away? i have a cheer Competition tuesday, so i really need it gone PLEASE.

you know what realy helps:
1) buy cold sore creams
or
2) grind any pain killer tablet (advil, tylenol…) and then mix it with a little bit of water make sure it’s not too runny, then apply it on u’re cold sore it will soon dry up and rid of that cold sore!!
give it at least a day and put a bandage on it just s u don’t touch it =D
