Toothpaste is a good treatment for external applications (which will take a while to see the results), but you could also take L-Lysine (an Amino Acid) to help fight it internally, too. L-Lysine can help to get rid of it sooner, plus you can take it safely after you can’t see the sore anymore to make sure it’s gone.
Also, if you get cold sores on a regular basis, taking L-Lysine can actually help prevent them from coming up again. Oh, and stress tends to aggravate cold sores, so reducing stress may help as well. Good luck!

Cold sores are also called as the fever blisters. When the herpes simplex viruses attacks the body blisters or cold sores shows there presence. These viruses may attack the body in childhood or during encounter with infected persons. Often virus lay in the body in a dormant stage. Some times cold sores may come on genital organs and near finger areas. Once the viruses attack the body, it becomes a hard task to flush them out of the body. Therefore, we cannot remove them totally but we can shield our body from infection or reactivation.
To reduce or decrease the reactivation or infections try to avoid the triggering of the blisters. To reduce the pains of the cold sores apply ice on the blisters for about five to ten minutes for each hour. This remedy will be more effective when applied for the upcoming blisters as ice prevents the further growth of the cold sores. Another way to prevent the further growth of the cold sore is the application of tannic acid. Tea bags contains adequate amount of the tannic acid and this will stop the further growth of the cold sores. To reduce the growths apply a tea bag for about five to ten minutes each hour at the beginning of the sores.
If cold sores already out braked then press a warm tea bag on the cold sore for about 20 to 30 minutes. Continuous application for five days helps in disappearance of the sores. Along with the external application, one has to concentrate on daily diet. To keep check on the cold sores infected peoples have to avoid acidic and salty food. These foods will increase the paining of the blisters.
High intake of arginine food like peanuts, chocolates, peas, grains, oatmeal, seeds and whole-wheat products should be avoided. Along with this high intake of coffee also affects the cold sores. Regular diet need to be supplemented with vitamins and nutrition’s. Particularly vitamin B complex and folic acid are helpful to reduce the paining of the cold sores. These certain remedies are helpful to reduce the pain of cold sores but you can follow certain things that will prevent you from reactivation of the blisters.
To avoid the contamination or infection the infected person must not share there cups, towels, and other things and cosmetic with the normal person. Skin to skin touch also spreads the infection and therefore kissing or sex should be avoided. Long exposure in the sunlight increases the pains and infection of the cold sores therefore while going outside person has to apply sunscreen lotion to body particularly to the lips, as they are the delicate as well as sensitive part of the body.

How to Prevent Cold Sores – Your Best Cold Sore Protection
Jun 10th
How to prevent cold sores can be achieved without much effort at all. Before buying any more cold sore remedies, you want to try this powerful internal treatment.
There are many cold sore remedies for external application once you do get a sore, but the only true way to actually prevent a sore is by defending yourself internally.
Thousands of former cold sore victims have totally erased the cold sore threat from their life by using a simple nutritional supplement plan outlined below.
You can too.
Do you know what causes your cold sore attacks?
A destructive herpes simplex virus is responsible for all cold sore outbreaks. It does this by destroying thousands of skin and nerve cells during its process of creating new virus particles.
Normally the herpes virus is quietly hiding in the root cells of your facial nerves. It becomes active only if it senses weak resistance in your defenses – giving it free reign to replicate.
Of all the cold sore triggers you may have heard about, here are the basic triggers that encourage the herpes virus to activate.
1. Your immunity becomes weakened due to stress, illness and lack of vital nutrients.
2. Your pH level has dropped and your cells have become acidic. Your oxygen levels also drop at this time. Optimum health means staying in the alkaline range.
3. You have higher than normal levels of the amino acid Arginine. This is the protein that the herpes virus absolutely must have to replicate and cause that irritating cold sore.
You may have heard that stress is the main trigger for outbreaks. It is true. Stress causes numbers one and two above – and sometimes even number three.
Nutritional supplements can and will prevent or reduce all of the above conditions.
Proper intake levels of the entire spectrum of vitamins and minerals are the basis for a bullet-proof immune system.
Unfortunately, these and other nutrients are sorely lacking in our commercially raised produce due to depleted soil. Lab tests show, for example, that a tomato today has 50% less nutrients than a 1960 tomato.
That is why even the AMA has stated that nutritional supplements will help prevent diseases today like never before.
PLEASE NOTE – do not buy those one or two per day varieties – they do not give you the quantity and quality you must have. Buy at a dedicated vitamin store or outlet.
You must use high quality supplements or you will not achieve the desired results.
You will want optimum quantities of all the vitamins – A, B family, C, D and E. Most folks look for a daily dose of 15 to 30 milligrams of zinc and 800 to 1000 milligrams of calcium.
This is how they work to prevent cold sores.
All the B vitamins and vitamin C are considered the stress vitamin group. They greatly reduce what stress can do to your immune system and pH levels.
Vitamins D, A and E support a strong immune system and healthy, glowing skin. They are very protective against viral invasion.
Zinc is needed only in very small daily doses, yet is extremely powerful for resisting virus and bacterial attack. Zinc also speeds cell and skin growth.
Calcium is the most important mineral for supporting a healthy alkaline pH level and preventing an acid condition.
And last, but certainly not least – consider adding lysine capsules to your daily nutritional routine. Lysine all by itself can prevent cold sores. A dosage of one or two 500 milligram capsules per day is common and safe.
Lysine prevents herpes virus activity by reducing the quantity of Arginine and inhibiting the availability of the remainder for replication.
Lysine alone can send the virus back into hiding or prevent it coming out at all.
This daily nutritional supplement plan is truly how to prevent cold sores – in most cases producing results in just a few days.
You may wish to learn more about and try some other great cold sore remedies but this internal treatment plan should always be your first defensive maneuver.
It certainly is the best of all treatments we have seen to actually prevent future cold sore events.

Cold Sores – Your Best Natural Tactics For Treating A Cold Sore
Jun 6th
Treating a cold sore does not have to be difficult or expensive. You can do it effectively and economically using these home remedies.
You can use either internal or external remedies for treating cold sores. Your best outcome can be achieved by combining both types of remedies at the same time.
If you do, you will be amazed how quickly your outbreaks will disappear using these simple remedies.
A. EXTERNAL TREATMENTS.
Because these sores always appear on the surface, topical remedies are the most popular. Here are some proven and powerful external remedies for treating your cold sores.
1. ICE. If your outbreak is in its early stages, ice works wonders. Ice stops discomfort and swelling. And it discourages the herpes virus from replicating.
Ice will slow down (and sometimes completely stop) your outbreak if applied at the first itching or tingling sign.
2. GARLIC OIL. Use fresh crushed or cut garlic for optimal results. Start applying it as soon as you feel a sore coming on.
Garlic is very anti-virus and has the amazing ability to go right through the skin to the infection. If you do not like the smell of garlic, use oregano or mint oil instead.
3. HEAT. Once your cold sores blossom, stop the ice and use hot, moist tea bags. You are now in the healing stage. Ice slows healing, heat speeds it up.
Tea has great healing properties. Any tea will do, but mint tea is preferred. Use only hot water for warming up the tea bags. Never heat a tea bag directly in a microwave. The radiation ruins much of the benefits of tea.
4. PEROXIDE. You probably already know to continuously cleanse your cold sores. Alcohol soaked tissues are commonly used and work well.
I prefer hydrogen peroxide. It works as well as alcohol for cleansing a wound, but is also rich in oxygen molecules, which will boost your healing speed even more.
B. INTERNAL TREATMENTS.
Internally treating a cold sore will greatly boost the results of any external treatment. It is the only way of actually preventing future attacks.
Here are the two main internal methods of successfully treating cold sores.
1. LYSINE. Lysine stops the virus from getting the protein (arginine) that it needs to build new virus particles. When you accomplish this, you have just slowed down – or prevented – another outbreak.
Lysine must get into the cells for treating a cold sore. The only way for this to happen is to take in lysine orally – not using it topically on the outbreak as some companies claim.
Lysine is rich in dairy products and fish, but it is difficult to get the measured high amounts you need from food alone.
Lysine capsules are much more convenient when you need large dosages. They are cheap and easy to find. Commonly, folks take about 3000 milligrams daily during active cold sores.
2. VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS. If you get a lot of cold sores, you should be taking a good quality vitamin supplement. This is an outstanding way of treating cold sores.
Vitamins A, D and E are essential for healthy eyes and skin – and fast cell and skin repair. Vitamins B and C are the stress vitamins. They protect you from physical effects of stress.
Minerals zinc and calcium are powerful medicine against cold sores. Zinc is a well proven healing and protective mineral. You need 30 milligrams per day.
Calcium is the premier mineral for treating a cold sore. It helps keep your body in a healthy alkaline condition. This is so critical for your health your body will take it from your bones if your intake is deficient.
There you have it.
You do not need expensive store-bought ways of treating a cold sore, just some good home remedies that have proven themselves over many years.
Treating a cold sore and eliminating it quickly is as easy as giving these cold sore remedies a try.

Finding The Best Cold Sore Medication: Abreva vs. Zovirax (aciclovir)
Jun 1st
The internet offers mixed reviews on many of the dozens of cold sore medications on the market today, ranging from statements like “my cold sore was gone in two hours” to “this stuff made it worse!” Some cold sore medications obviously have a better track record than others, but it can be difficult to find the perfect remedy for that annoying and embarrassing cold sore. The biggest factor that will contribute to the effectiveness of your chosen cold sore remedy is noting the stage at which the cold sore has developed when the first treatment is applied to the site. Any cold sore sufferer knows that the best way to treat a cold sore is to nip it in the bud as soon as possible. Once blisters begin to form, you may be out of luck if you are not using the right cold sore medication. I am a frequent cold sore sufferer who has tried almost every home remedy and cold sore medication on the market. In this article I am going to compare two of the most popular cold sore medications: Abreva, the only FDA approved over the counter medication and Zovirax, an FDA approved prescription medication.
Abreva:
Abreva can be purchased in almost any drug-store for $16-$20. Right off the bat, it is important to note that you won’t get much for what you pay. The medicine is in a tiny 2 gram (.07 ounce) tube that is barely an inch long. I have seen many good (and many bad) reviews of Abreva, and my opinion falls somewhere in-between. Healing a cold sore quickly with Abreva is hit-or-miss. I have learned that if I liberally apply Abreva almost every hour as soon as I feel any burning or tingling, it does help tremendously and there is 90% chance that I will avoid a full blown breakout. Often, if caught at that stage, the blisters will simply not develop. However, if I don’t have any when the tingling begins, or I wake up to find that the blisters have already begun to form, the cold sore will generally run its course, lasting 9-10 days regardless of how much I continue to apply. It really is important to apply Abreva immediately upon feeling any tingling or pain. Even an hour can make a big difference.
Zovirax (Aciclovir):
Let me just say that I absolutely love Zovirax and I regret all the years I suffered with cold sores, spending hours researching home remedies and over-the-counter products, when a simple call to the doctor for a prescription was the answer. It is truly a life-saver when it comes to cold sores. Whether it is applied at the first signs of a cold sore or even after bumps and blisters have begun to form, it will zap my cold sore in 24-48 hours. In addition, it does not “dry out” the cold sores which many medications do; shrinking the blisters, but leaving a very hard scab that cracks and bleeds. Zovirax also has something in it to relieve pain and itching. In most cases, if Zovirax is applied during the tingling stage the cold sore does not develop (like Abreva). If it is applied after blisters have formed, it shrinks the blisters overnight and relieves all the redness and irritation surrounding the sore. I have never had a cold sore for more than three days when using Zovirax. The one down-side to using this medication is the cost. A 5 gram tube of Zovirax retails at about $120.00 and is subject to a higher co-pay with insurance because there is no generic equivalent available yet.

Best Cold Sore Treatment ? Natural Cold Sores Remedies
May 28th
Your running nose is troubling you. You are sick and tired of sneezing and coughing. You are tired of using every alternate remedy possible. You are even tired of not getting the desires results from any one of the remedies that you have tried till now. Maybe its time you read this article.
There are several cold sore products that are available in the market. And you will have to take the tough decision of choosing the cold sore product that will provide you relief from your cold.
The most common remedy which most people resort to for treating their cold sore are ointments and creams for fever blisters.
Though it may sound mundane but whatever remedy you choose will depend on the severity of your problem. If your cold is not that severe but if you have chosen a product that is meant for curing severe cases of cold then you could suffer from side-effects like headache or some kind of an allergic reaction.
And I am sure you would certainly not want to go through that. Cold sores are caused by herpes simplex. One of the best ways of treating cold sore is by using a cold sores and herpes pain relief gel.
Whereas if you totally want to go for natural remedies for treating cold sore then following are some solutions provided. Using a Lemon Balm can prove to be very effective as lemon contains anti-viral properties.
Or having Lysine in your food can also help in treating cold sore. Lysine is extremely rich in amino acids and it can slow down the growth of herpes simplex. Peppermint oil is also considered to be extremely beneficial.
But before using peppermint oil consider a doctor as excess amount of peppermint oil can be dangerous for your health.
If you are looking for the best cold sore treatment, i highly recommend Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days. Check out my site for my details.

If you are talking about the ones that start as an itch/tingle on your lip and then develop into a painful blister that seems to hang around for days, then yes, I have some advice for you.
Those are a form of herpes called Herpes simplex 1 and the virus stays in your body and becomes active now and then. For me, stress and sun exposure without protection will bring them on.
I use a supplement called lysine that is fairly cheap and available in nearly any drug store or department store that sells vitamins. I started using it for these kinds of cold sores about 20 years ago.
I keep a bottle of the pills around all the time, just in case.
At the very first itch tingle I take at least 4 500 mg tablets right away and repeat every 4-6 hours. I can most times stop them in their tracks.
If I cannot get to the lysine in time and I develop a lip blister, I take 4 500 mg lysine at first opportunity and then 2 500 mg every 2-3 hours. I also use a lip balm that contains lysine called Doctor Morgans. I can only get it at one drug store here in Rochester Mn. There may be other brands that contain lysine in your area.
I continue with the pills at the dose I mentioned for at least 3 days and then back down to morning noon and night with the salve as needed.
When I first started using lysine, I got the blisters about 3-4 times a year. Now I get them only once or twice in 3-4 years.
Ideally, you should take a small dose of lysine every day for prevention but I never remember to so I just make sure I always have it on hand.
I found that without the lysine, an outbreak lasts about 2 weeks but with the lysine, if I catch it at the first tingle, I can stop it completely. If I am late taking it, I can still cut the time frame in half anyway.
Always use a lip sun screen.
What ever lip balm you were using when you had an outbreak should be thrown away as you can re infect yourself with it.
