Question by PurplePerson!!ahhhh: Are there any cold remedies that might have even just the slightest chance of working?
i have a really nasty cold with a very sore throat and runny nose. My eyes are also really puffy. Is there anything I can do that might help? Any ‘old wives tales’? Or scientifically proven methods? Please help. I have tried eating everything to do with oranges all day

colds are caused by viruses, so nothing will cure them. some things will make you feel better:
- hot herbal teas, ginger, lemon and honey are popular
- garlic
- vitamin C (oranges have pretty low vitamin C, better get the pills)
- zinc
- antihistamines (allergy medicine)
- paracetamol
- menthol/ eucalyptus/ sore throat drops
- any cold medicines, especially the ones that help you sleep at night (NyQuil)

I really like hot chocolate when I have a cold— but all these remedies will just make you feel a bit better. To actually get better, you just have to wait, sleep plenty and drink lots of fluids.
