plz help me i really don’t want this Tday is the first day of the cold sore and maybe a i can prevent it from going on further. I need good home remedies or good products i can buy at the store..maybe a few options and say which product worked better…idk but plz oh plz help me thanxs!

Abreva, I swear by it, but its a little pricey, but SOOO worth it, I actually have one now and know it will be gone by the weekend :)

abreva is the ONLY non prescription medication proven to shorten the length of the outbreaks. You probably already know that cold sores are herpes and can be transmitted by kissing. You can also give someone genital herpes by performing oral sex on them while you have a “cold sore”. (you can even self-infect yourself if you touch your cold sore, don’t wash your hands, and then have genital contact)

If your cold sores are severe (more than 3-5 days) your doctor may suggest various anti-viral medication. Once you have a cold sore they are with you for life, and usually surface when a “trigger” activates them – stress, lack of sleep, shaving (for men) , sunburn, etc.

You should really do some research (since it will be with you for life, you might as well find out as much as you can) and ask your doctor next time you have an appointment. Some times you can avoid breakouts for long periods by avoiding stressors. In severe cases, the doctor might even prescribe suppressant antivirals. Another danger that is not advertised about enough is BLINDNESS. If you touch your cold sore and then rub your eyes, you could infect your eye, and blindness is a likely end result.

Sorry the news is so grim, but better that you know it all up front. I was a stupid teenager who said “I don’t care” and kissed that hot girl anyway. Really wish I hadn’t because I got severe ones. The good news is I haven’t had one in over three years (the bad news is that is only since I have stopped working – I used to get them two or three times a year for two weeks) Good luck, hope this was helpful

I have fairly decent skin, I only get breakouts once in a while…mostly b/c of hormones. But right now i have a cold sore on the side of my lip, and i REALLLLYYY need it to go away. I have a special event coming up tonight and it would be a HUNDRED times better without the cold sore! PLEASE HELP…

Use salt water ..and with a Q-tip..gently move it over the cold sore in a circular motion

Ok, so i am 30 wks preggo and i have a head cold—the drainage is making me so nauseated, i have been throwing up the last few days..i am trying to stay hydrated cuz i know that helps with the mucus–keeps it thinned out…any ideas what to do to feel better or to take to help dry it up? The dr said that i could take Chlrotrimeton (sp) in my first trimester when sick with this, but it made me feel like crap…should i risk taking it again??
WTF?? I cant take that while pregnant?? what are you thinking?? If i wasnt pregnant, then i might try it, but what are you on?? serious answers PLEASE!!!

oh, i remember those days and they were terrible – i feel your pain! i would breathe steam, either steam up the bathroom with the door closed and the shower running or heat water on the stove and stand over it. other ideas are to flush out your sinuses with a neti pot (see link); it’s a little weird at first, but it really works well and doesn’t use any medicine. if you can stand to gargle, salt water or regular flavor listerine will cut the stuff from the back of your throat pretty well. you can also use things to help with the nausea, like preggy pop drops (at maternity stores or online), ginger altoids, or tangerine altoids – all 3 of those worked for me! i hope something from this helps!! hang in there, and best wishes!

I got a sore in the corner of my mouth right where my bottom and top lips meet and it was really dry. I’m not sure if it’s just dry lips or if it’s a cold sore. I don’t have any blisters or bleeding it’s just sore. If it is a cold sore any remedies that will work

This might be Angular Cheilitis which causes cuts in the corner of the mouth which can then get infected and become sores that can be confused with cold sores and blisters.

Angular Cheilitis is a condition that is caused by a lack of certain vitamins in a persons diet that manifest in sores and cuts in the corner of the mouth. The main vitamin deficiencies are riboflavin, vitamin B12, and iron; when a persons body have very low levels of these they risk not only Angular Cheilitis but other conditions such as anemia. What can make matters more confusing for sufferers is that those cuts can get more inflamed and sore if they get infected with thrush or Candida albicans as it is also known doubling your problems.

I think a cold sore is coming on since i alreaddy have lots of redness to the left of my mouth. i think its relaly noticable.

I want it gone by tomorrow but obviously its not gonna go that fast. thing is to be honest i know its contagous and yh i think you get it now (kissing). WHY THI WEEKEND OUT OF ALL WEEKENDS! Sorry im alittle annioed lol.

Well anybody know any home remedees or anything that will get rid of it. im getting the invisible patchs now and i have tried zovirax but its not wokring and i have alredy been using it for about 4 days now

Please Help !

today i notcied im getting my first cold sore ever!!!
its horrible any home remedies to not make it flare up for the next couple of days, im going on vacation!i can only buy something tomorrow night, it still is not very visable right now but i want to stop it before it gets gross…i already but some toothpaste on it! HELP!!!!!!!

If its a herpes type cold sore, you can go to the doctor and get a prescription that will help. If its just a regular cold sore, I found carmex to work the best.
