I drank a mix of hot water with galic and cayenne pepper. will this work? are there any homemade remedies to get rid of a cold? the sore throat and stuffed nose and head is unbearable and im willing to try anything to get rid of this. what works well for others?

A cup of hot water with honey and lemon juice helps you feel better but a cold usually takes a week and there is noting you can really do but wait. Chicken soup is supposed to have some natural antibiotics in it. That’s why people have it for a cold.

I woke up this morning with a huge blister on my lip. It hurts & I’m afraid its the beginning of a cold sore. I haven’t had one in years….. So I dont remember what to do to treat them. I remember they are painful. So whats the quickest way to get rid of one?
Actually these are really good ideas. Its funny, reading your ideas on causes. I did go to a beach party on Friday & got pretty sunburned on my face, had a very stressful weekend, & went to the ER with an anxiety attack on Monday. Tuesday a.m. I woke up witht hte blister. I’ll try the abreva. WOW 18.99 for a .07 oz tube!!!! Thanks for the suggestions!!!

There are now medicines specific for them but the old remedy used to be colloidion.

Well, I woke up this morning with one tiny little blister. I thought it was a pimple at first but if I look at it close enough I can tell it’s more of a fever blister/cold sore. It’s really tiny and hasn’t fully blown up yet, so I was wondering if anyone had some easy ways to get rid of this before it gets bigger?? Thanks!!

Put peroxide on it with a Q tip. Do it frequently and it will dry up in no time. It bubbles and burns a little.

When you are ill with chest infections, colds, sore throats Etc Do you have any remedies that are not store bought or prescribed? im currently on antibiotics for a nasty chest infection and curious what personal remedies people have.

I can really sympathize with you. Colds are really nasty stuff. Well, one famous remedy is drinking warm chicken soup. Although scientific research does not prove the significance of chicken soup in curing colds, scientists do agree that the ingredients in the soup contain anti-inflammatorys (good for you). Secondly, some soup ingredients temporarily speed up the movement of mucus through the nose, helping relieve congestion and limiting the amount of time viruses are in contact with the nose lining. For sore throat relief, the only thing I can think of is gurgling salt water. Pour yourself a glass of warm water and add a teaspoon or so of salt. Gurggle in your mouth several times and it will soothe your throat. Also, for general combating of colds, use a humidifier. Cold viruses thrive in dry conditions. I hope all these suggestions helped. Hope you feel better!

You might want to do some research on peppermint oil. Topically applying the oil to the affected area is said to help ease the cold sore.
