I have a terrible cold. With the works: itcy, stuffed nose, watery eyes, and a sore throat/cough. If you’ve got any cold remedies, please help!

Yesterday I woke up with a cold sore right in the middle of my top lip. I’m wondering how these are caused. I haven’t kissed anyone lately. Also what are some household items I can use to make it go away faster? Thanks. =]
I’m wondering if things like ice, peroxide, alcohol, nail polish remover or tea tree oil would be good a good idea or make the situation worse.

Cold sores are highly contagious, so if you were around someone who had one, and you came in contact with something that that person touched…
GARLIC works really well. Just cut open a piece of garlic and apply it directly.
I’m not sure those things would be a good idea.
And I think the idea is to not moisten it so it shrivels up and dies…

Limit citric acid and caffeine, and drink 8 glasses of water a day.

My wife is a Filippina and she cooks up beef bones and vegetables and put some chilli flakes in and that clears your head and makes you sweat and makes you feel good all over,give that a try.Have a good day.

I have one right now too. =[ I'm using blistex and it's healing faster than normal. I tried removing it, then covering it with rubbing alcohol, when i had one last year (someone told me it would help) but it actually took like two and a half weeks to heal after that and it was realllllly painful. So i defiantly don't recommend popped and/or slicing a fever blister or cold sore EVER! I recommend blistex. Remedies can get pretty painful and its pointless if they take longer to heal. =[
I hope both of our coldsores heal soon. =]

Some people have great success with L-Lysine. I however found for me it only makes it worse. Cold sores are a virus lying dormant in your body until your immune system weakens then it flares up, usually after a cold thus it’s name. I find for myself the best bet is to take lots of vit c and garlic along with any other immune boosting formula as soon as I begin to feel worn down and hope it works. After mine flare up nothing seems to shorten the life of it. I apply a nice cream like Burt’s Bees royal jelly eye cream to help with possible scarring.

i am 7 months pregnant and have the worst cold in the history of colds (at least it feels like it). i need some remedies that i can try to help soothe my sore throat and keep the coughing at bay, and i need it to be from things found in my kitchen. i have no vehicle (i’m visiting family and flew) and therefore have no way to go out and buy medicine.
i’m currently drinking a remedy i read about that consists of 8 ounces hot water, 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon apple-cider vinegar, and it seems to be helping a bit. i was just wondering if anyone has a tried and true method that always works for them?

just take a tablespoon of pure distilled vinegar;
1 an hour;
and the soreness in you throat will be goon;
gargle w/ salt and water before you go to sleep as well!

You might want to do some research on peppermint oil. Topically applying the oil to the affected area is said to help ease the cold sore.

if you catch it before it breaks keep dabbing with methylated spirits, and it drys it up, or aftershave will do
