I got a cold sore on my chin on Sunday morning. It scabbed over by Monday night and now I am left with this hideous scab. Is there anything to make it go away faster?
Thank you for the advice about Abreva! I am really interested in anything you may know about that will make the scabs go away faster. Thanks!

I use Abeva. It heals them fast if you catch them when they first start. It is very expensive, like 15 dollars for 2 grams but it helps alot. I get it at WalMart.

Hot water, juice of a lemon, good teaspoon of runny honey, sip it and enjoy the vitamin C.

i have a really nasty cold with a very sore throat and runny nose. My eyes are also really puffy. Is there anything I can do that might help? Any ‘old wives tales’? Or scientifically proven methods? Please help. I have tried eating everything to do with oranges all day

colds are caused by viruses, so nothing will cure them. some things will make you feel better:
- hot herbal teas, ginger, lemon and honey are popular
- garlic
- vitamin C (oranges have pretty low vitamin C, better get the pills)
- zinc
- antihistamines (allergy medicine)
- paracetamol
- menthol/ eucalyptus/ sore throat drops
- any cold medicines, especially the ones that help you sleep at night (NyQuil)
I really like hot chocolate when I have a cold— but all these remedies will just make you feel a bit better. To actually get better, you just have to wait, sleep plenty and drink lots of fluids.

If you can handle the taste, neem oil or neem tea can be put on the sore itself. It is extremely bitter.
Prolly best to use when not on a lip. In addition, start taking 3 neem bark or leaf capsule per day when you feel one coming on, and 1 cinnamon, 1 ginger and 1 turmeric. You may find that by taking the neem and turmeric you don’t get anymore. ever.

I’ve been getting cold sores nonstop for the past couple of months. It’s the first time I’ve ever had them, actually. They freaking suck. They are right in the corners of my mouth and they hurt so bad. I feel like I’m a dirty person because I have them haha but I know lots of people get them. I was just wondering instead of products like Abreva (which I know actually works it’s just so small and expensive) are there any natural remedies that I could try? My mom also said it could be a vitamin deficiency…does anyone know any more about that? Thanks for all the answers in advance! I greatly appreciate it.

Could be totally totally wrong,
but I seem to remember geranium essential oil may work?
However you should definitely double-check this.

Boil down an onion(diced) and lemon juice and honey. strian it. then eat a spoonful when your throat hurts or you start coffing a lot. It tastes gross but it does the job. just refrgerate it and it will last for like 3 months.

I have been prescribed some pills for cold sores. However, I do not have any insurance right now, and can not go to the doctor to get a renewed prescrption. Are there any pills that I can use to get rid of this nasty cold sore? It is just starting, not quite noticable yet. And I would like it to stay that way! I have used Abreva, that does not work well for me. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

My G-friend insisted that I start taking this new pill out for the cold sores I was getting. Well despite their stupid name, the sh** worked, all the way around. I’m their new biggest fan. Anyway, it’s called The Canker Spanker, no joke – don’t get me started on their name.

Does anyone know of any fast remedies for a cold sore? I just noticed one on my bottom lip. I usually feel it coming on the night before but this one seems to have just sprung up during the day. Any fast cures? They usually last me about 2 weeks and I can’t wait that long.

Go to GNC and buy L-Lysine. Take 1000 mg (1gm) 3 times the first day, than 1 a day for a few days. It helps them go away. The theory is that the Lysine molecule has a greater affinity for the cell than the virus that causes the cold sore, thus healing them quicker. I do this all the time, when I feel them coming on, and they go in a few days. Good Luck!!

I drank a mix of hot water with galic and cayenne pepper. will this work? are there any homemade remedies to get rid of a cold? the sore throat and stuffed nose and head is unbearable and im willing to try anything to get rid of this. what works well for others?

A cup of hot water with honey and lemon juice helps you feel better but a cold usually takes a week and there is noting you can really do but wait. Chicken soup is supposed to have some natural antibiotics in it. That’s why people have it for a cold.
